| ProMusicFind.Com was
founded in 1997 by President and CEO Fred Lorber. Starting out as "just another
piano salesman", Fred recognized the retail capabilities of the Web in the mid '90's.
As an employee for Pearson Music Company in Raleigh, NC since 1986 he quickly rose
into the sales management ranks. But what Fred really enjoyed was setting up sales
systems and training people to increase sales and profitability. Fred left the MI industry for a short time to take a job in real
estate. But when he found himself out of a job six months later, he began pondering
the idea of an all encompassing, retail-oriented, database driven Web site for the music
industry. The idea actually came from what the used book industry was doing on the
Web. After consulting with the owner of Bibliofind (a site where used book dealers
could list their inventory for sale to the general public and other dealers), Fred
realized that a similar system was needed for the retail music industry. He then set
out to develop a Musical Item Locator Service - ProMusicFind.Com.
